Boxer Crab (or Pom Pom Crab!)
Lybia tessellata

This crab had the idea to keep in his arms two small stinging anemones, for his protection. The result is very funny: you should see him moving those anemones, when feeling in danger. Exactly as a cheerleader! :)

Location: Seraya, NE Bali - Indonesia
Size: 2 cm

Camera: Canon Eos 500
Lens: 100 mm macro
Strobe: Inon Z22
Film: Fuji Velvia 50 ASA

Very unusual looking, its eyes make it look angry.

oh my god, tell me that is NOT REAL!!
:iconscreamplz:
This pretty much freaks the hell out of me, but like, what a shot! that's pretty amazing...

Maybe he was angry, I found him resting under a small stone, at night! His eyes are very strange, it seems they have the "S" of Superman under them.

It's a rare species, not easy to find. I don't know where he can find such a small anemones and how he keeps them so small, like a bonsai. Just another case of smart symbioses: the small crab get protection, the anemones get their food filtering the water, while brought around by the crab. :)
:iconlazydugong:
Yes, strange and cute! :)
:iconflippinphil:
Yeah, I was going to mention his eyes. :D

You do a great job in finding these rare species.

Don't be scared, he's very small! :)

This species is very rare, can be found only in few places, but you have to look under some small stones, one by one and be patient and lucky enough to find one of them.

Now that's an unusual animal with a weird adaptation! Gotta love Biology. Amazing capture, love the colors!

Is very REAL! Nature has no limits in fantasy! :)

I know it can look scary, but believe me, it's very funny and too small to be scary! Its claws, made to keep those anemones, are very small too, can't be of any danger for us.
Cheerleaders are never scary! :D
